1.  Event Structure & Location

  • Location: Clear Lake, California.
  • Format: 2-day team event (maximum 2 anglers per boat).
  • Daily Limit: 5 bass per team per day (Largemouth, Smallmouth, or Spotted Bass).
  • Scoring: Cumulative total weight over both days determines overall placement.
  • Official Practice & Off-Water Rules: Official practice on Clear Lake is allowed only between sunrise and sunset Monday through Thursday (2/1/2027 to 2/4/2027). On Friday (2/5/27) before Day 1, all boats must be completely off the water by 2:00 PM.

2.  Bait & Gear Restrictions

  • G-Ratt Baits Exclusive: Teams may only cast and fish with G-Ratt Baits.
  • Umbrella / Alabama Rigs: Permitted, provided every bait attached to the rig is an official G-Ratt Bait and complies with California DFW hook regulations.
  • Modifications: Hook and split-ring upgrades or replacements are permitted. Adding external weights, altering bodies, or attaching non-G-Ratt components is prohibited.
  • Line Limits: One active rod/line in the water per angler at any time.

3.  Size Limits & Scoring Penalties

  • Minimum Length: 12 inches minimum, measured on an official flat board with the mouth open and tail pinched.
  • Short Fish Penalty: Any fish brought to the scale under 12 inches is disqualified. A 1.00 lb penalty will be deducted from the team’s total weight.
  • Dead Fish Penalty: A 0.50 lb (8 oz) penalty per dead fish will be deducted from the daily total. Dead fish are ineligible for Big Bass awards.

4.  Safety & Sportsmanship

  • Boating Safety: PFDs must be worn whenever the main engine is running. Engine kill switches must be attached to the driver at all times when in motion.
  • Restricted Zones: Fishing is strictly prohibited within 100 feet of any gas dock.
  • Sportsmanship: All teams must maintain a minimum distance of 100 feet from other competing boats unless mutually agreed upon.
  • Tiebreakers: Ties for total weight will be broken by the team holding the single heaviest fish of the event (Big Bass).
